Our 5 days Morocco desert tour will begin by leaving Marrakech the red city at 9am heading to the cinematic city of Ouarzazate. We will drive across the High Atlas Mountains crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters above sea level which provides plenty of wonderful panoramic views to rejoice. We will have lots of time and opportunities to enjoy breathtaking landscapes and visit various Berber villages to connect with the nomads and the local culture. Further on our trip, we will take a break for coffee or mint tea in a picturesque location. In the afternoon we will get the chance to visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah which is a UNESCO Heritage site and well known as a film set location. This Berber Kasbah which is considered as an important place for international filmmakers is also one of the most important castle strongholds on the old Salt Road where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt. You can still see the salt pans in the valley. Then we will visit Ouarzazate which is also called Hollywood of Africa, being an attraction for filmmakers and directors looking to make a medieval era film. The most famous movies to have been filmed in Ouarzazate’s Atlas Studios are Kingdom of Heaven, Babel, The Mummy, and Gladiator along with a long list of TV shows like the fantasy series Game of Thrones. After enjoying your breakfast in Ouarzazate, your journey will continue with a small tour in the local markets and nearby the Kasbahs of Ouarzazate before taking the road from the Cinematic spotlight to the Dades Valley, which is a beautiful natural refuge in the feet of the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you will witness the beauty and serenity of mother nature. The village of Khamlia is inhabited by descendants of Sudanese traders and emancipated slaves, who, through their Gnaoua music and songs, they tell stories of their past. There will be time for you to see local Berber handcrafts which are for sale, a good opportunity to buy from locals. After lunch and a rest, you will prepare yourself for a camel trekking adventure to discover the sea of sand guided by an experienced camel guide. After dinner, you’ll be entertained with local music and you will spend the night in the luxury desert camp.

Your journey of 5 days Morocco desert tour carries on as we travel to Fes along the magnificent Ziz Gorge which has been carved out of volcanic rocks offering a spectacular and dramatic scenery, and through the Tizi n’Talghemt pass to Midelt which is a beautiful city that makes a handy break between the desert and Fes. We will stop in Zaida to have lunch and enjoy a glass of mint tea. From there we’ll drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains; home to the great cedar forests and the Barbary Macaque monkeys, the only ones of their kind in Africa and which that can be seen in Azrou. They are fun to watch and often steal food from parked cars. You can also feed them and try to get a photo opportunity. Then we’ll drive to Ifrane; known as the little Switzerland of Africa, very well-known for its cold and snowy weather along with the beauty of its gardens and European-styled buildings.
